Abstract:In recent years, people are seeking for green and better environment, which requires novel materials and technologies.Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are highly effective for water treatment. The emerging nanocarbons such as graphene, carbon nanotubes, and nanodiamonds exhibit great merits for heterogeneous catalysis compared with metal- or metal oxide-based catalysts in aqueous solution without toxic ion-leaching and associated secondary contamination. In this talk, the development in heterogeneous catalysis for persulfate-based AOPs for organic degradation in aqueous solution will be discussed and several different nanocarbon-basedsystems will be demonstrated to be active materials as alternatives to metal-based catalysts in chemical reaction for wastewater treatment.
