New Energy Science and Engineering is one of the first batch of new engineering majors approved by our country and oriented to the development of strategic new industries. It has been approved as the first-class undergraduate discipline construction site in Hunan Province. The department aims to cultivate high-level interdisciplinary talents with strong engineering practice and innovation ability in solar energy, biomass energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, nuclear energy and other new energy fields. Graduates can engage in new energy and clean energy technology development, system design, project management and other related work. Our university has built many national and provincial engineering centers and key laboratories in this field, and established a number of training bases with domestic well-known enterprises. Now the department has a faculty team graduated from well-known universities at home and abroad. There are 12 full-time faculty members, all of whom have doctoral degrees, including 5 professors, 6 associate professors and 1 lecturer. The department has undertaken a number of major scientific research projects in the fields of solar thermal utilization, biomass energy conversion and comprehensive utilization of geothermal energy, making important contributions to the development of new energy science and technology. At present, the department mainly carries out basic research and high-level talent training in the following three areas:

(1) Principle and Technology of New Energy Conversion

1. Solar thermal utilization

2. Photovoltaic power generation

3. Geothermal energy utilization

4. Biomass energy utilization

(2) Energy System Engineering
